September brings wonderful things on the Camphill campus. Our teachers reopen their classrooms, our coworkers join us to begin their time of service here, and our students rejoin us after their long summer break. We are always excited to meet again with new friends and old and are eager to dive back into the work of the school year and revisit our annual traditions.
One of these traditions is when Vanguard joins us for their annual Day of Giving. Since 2007, 961 Vanguard employees have contributed 5,633 hours. They have done it all from building and maintaining the Horizontal Path to serving on the Board of Directors to helping plan the ProAm to stuffing envelopes!
This year our Vanguard helpers took on a plethora of maintenance tasks on our campus. Our volunteers joined us on September 22 to mulch gardens, stain and paint decks and playground equipment, and even replaced a flagstone patio at one of our residence houses. Although it was more than 80 degrees out (in September!) the team worked all through the day to complete multiple projects, and some even came back the next day to get that patio at Antanor finished.
As always, all of us at Camphill are grateful for the gift of hard work the Vanguard team gave us. We look forward to working with this wonderful team again at the start of our next school year!
